Hello, my name is Roberto Pena, I live in Esquel, Argentina, and I started my web design business, Punto Web Esquel, more than 18 years ago. My projects are entirely built on the WordPress CMS
Before getting to the main topic, I wanted to thank Pamelis for the invitation to write a post on her site, and wish her the best of luck with her agency; she is a true professional.
But anyway, let's get started right away. Today I'm going to talk about the website design trends we have for 2021.
Website design goes hand in hand with technological advancements. New tools are constantly emerging to make the user experience more enjoyable and user-friendly, which is why it's essential to adapt to new structures, formats, and trends.
Never lose sight of the goal: to promote and sell products or services. But without an up-to-date and well-designed website, you'll hardly achieve it.
Remember that image speaks volumes, and if potential customers encounter an outdated and disorganized website, they won't form a correct impression of your business.
That's why it's necessary to stay ahead of the curve, update our look, and stick to current styles that meet the tastes of our visitors.
Don't lose track of these ideas
Simplicity takes the lead in 2021, incorporating graphic elements that harmonize the interface.
Discover some of these ideas that are now setting the standard for web design:
- Minimalism. Experts are right when they say that "less is more." These are projects where white or light tones predominate, only the necessary elements are added, typography uses a single color, and images are subtle; in general, clean lines prevail.
Distractions such as banners, chats, and pop-ups are excluded, as they are considered intrusive. Even subscription forms are under scrutiny regarding their legality.
- Hero. It proposes an evolution in contrast to the designs used recently. It gradually relegates sliders because they require time to view and consume a lot of resources while loading.
It features wide images that immediately capture the user's attention. These are suitable as website covers. Sometimes, due to their lightweight nature, they are combined with gradient colors and transparent buttons.
- Handmade. This refers specifically to the typography used. These are distinctive fonts that lend a unique personality to the website.
It is suggested to use them in the areas we want to highlight, such as headlines, logos and headers.
This does not mean that large fonts should be completely eliminated, as it is clear that they have an impact and encourage user interaction.
Texts placed horizontally and vertically are also taken into account, as a resource to capture the visitor's attention.
- Responsive design. It's practically mandatory for websites to be responsive this year. The goal is for users to spend more time on our site; therefore, it must offer readability, usability, and fast navigation.
It's essential that it responds on any device, regardless of the design used. Therefore, the loading speed must be optimal and will depend on the graphic design.
- Cinemagraphs. This is another trend of 2018. It consists of still images with some moving parts; according to surveys, they will have more presence than videos this year.
Cinemagraphs can be created with Photoshop, even without graphic design expertise. Due to their growing popularity, more applications (like Zoetropic) for creating them may emerge.
- Modular designs. It adheres to the alternative of simple finishes, for example, Pinterest. This interface is made easier for the user by using less text and loading more blocks that adapt to reading and responsiveness on any device, always keeping the load lighter.
Let's get to work
These are just a glimpse of what's trending this year. The idea isn't to use them all, but to choose the ones that align with your project's goals and objectives.
With these tips, get to work and wow us with an excellent website.
Greetings from Argentine Patagonia
