You have your website up, it looks good, loads fast and everything seems to be in order.
But when you search for your business on Google... nothing. 😩
You don't show up, or you show up so far away that no one can find you.
If that sounds familiar, don't worry. Today I want to explain why your website may not be showing up in Google and, more importantly, what you can do about it.
1. Google has not yet indexed your site
One of the most common reasons is that Google simply does not yet know that your site exists.
In order for it to appear in the results, it must first "visit" it and add it to its database, which is known as indexing.
✅ Solution:
Create a Google Search Console account and submit your sitemap (if you use WordPress and Rank Math, it is automatically generated). This way you tell Google, "Hi, this is my site, please check it."
2. Your site is not optimized for SEO
Even if you have good content, if it is not structured correctly, Google will not know what your website is about. This happens when there are no clear titles, meta descriptions, keywords or well-written texts.
✅ Solution:
Optimize your pages with tools like Rank Math or Yoast SEO.
Include in every post:
- A descriptive title with keywords.
- An attractive meta description.
- Well-organized headings (H2, H3).
- Natural and relevant text.
I can help you review your site and get it set up correctly so that Google will understand your content.
3. Your website has duplicate or very little content
Google values original and useful content.
If your pages say the same thing as other sites, or if you only have a few sentences with no real value, you probably won 't rank.
✅ Solution:
Check your texts and make sure they provide real information to your visitors.
For example, instead of just putting "We offer services of...", explain what differentiates you and how you help your customers.
4. Your site is new (and needs time)
If you have just launched your website, it is normal that it takes a few weeks (sometimes months) to start appearing.
Google prioritizes sites with more antiquity and constant content.
✅ Solution:
Create a blog within your site and publish articles of value to your ideal customers. That signals to Google that your website is alive and offers fresh content.
For example, the article you are reading helps me to attract customers interested in positioning their website 😉.
5. You have no links pointing to your website
External links are like votes of confidence.
If other pages (e.g. social networks, directories or blogs) link to you, Google understands that your site is trustworthy.
✅ Solution:
- Share your website on social networks and professional profiles.
- Sign up for Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business).
- Collaborate with other businesses to be mentioned or linked to.
6. Your site has technical problems
Sometimes the problem is in the code or configuration.
It could be that your website has blockages in the robots.txt file, errors in the sitemap or even a bad loading speed.
✅ Solution:
Do a technical audit or ask an experienced web designer (like me 😄) to check your site. I can help you catch those errors and optimize your website so Google can crawl it correctly.
In summary
If your site does not appear in Google, it may be because of:
- Lack of indexation.
- Poor SEO optimization.
- Insufficient or duplicate content.
- Low age of the domain.
- Lack of external links.
- Technical or configuration problems.
The good news is that all that has a solution.
With a professional review and a basic SEO strategy, you can get your website to start gaining visibility in no time.
