Hello, my name is Roberto Pena, I live in Argentina in the city of Esquel, and I started my web design business, Punto Web Esquel, more than 18 years ago. My projects are entirely done in the CMS WordPress.
Before starting with the central theme, I wanted to thank Pamelis for the invitation to make a post on her site, and wish her good luck with her agency, she is a great professional.
But let's get started, today I am going to talk about the trends for web design that we have for this 2021.
Website design evolves hand-in-hand with technological advancements. New tools emerge daily to enhance user experience, making it essential to adapt to new structures, formats, and trends.
Never lose sight of the goal: promoting and selling products or services. Achieving this becomes challenging without an updated and well-designed website.
Remember that image is everything. Potential customers encountering an outdated and disorganized site may not form a positive impression of your business.
Therefore, it's crucial to stay ahead, refresh the appearance, and adopt current styles that appeal to visitors.
Keep these ideas in mind.
Simplicity is key in 2021, incorporating graphic elements that harmonize the interface.
Explore some of the ideas that are currently setting the standard in web design:
- Minimalism. Experts are right when they say, "less is more." These projects predominantly feature white or light tones, incorporating only essential elements, single-color typography, and soft images; overall, cleanliness prevails.
Distractions like banners, chats, or pop-ups are avoided, as they are considered intrusive. Even subscription forms are under scrutiny regarding legality.
- Hero. This proposes an evolution in contrast to recent designs, gradually phasing out sliders because they take time to view and consume significant resources while loading.
It suggests using full-width images that immediately capture the user's attention, often used as a page's cover. These are sometimes combined with gradient colors and transparent buttons for a lighter feel.
- Handmade. This refers specifically to the typography used. These fonts add a unique personality to the website.
It is suggested to use them in areas you want to highlight, such as headlines, logos, and headers.
This doesn't mean large fonts should be completely eliminated, as they clearly make an impact and encourage user interaction.
Texts placed horizontally and vertically are also considered as a resource to capture the visitor's attention.
- Responsive design. It's practically mandatory this year for websites to be responsive. The goal is to keep users on our page longer, which requires readability, usability, and fast navigation.
It is essential that it responds on any device, regardless of the type of design used. Therefore, the loading speed must be optimal and will depend on the graphic aspect.
- Cinemagraphs. This is another trend. It consists of still images with a part in motion; according to surveys, they will be more present than videos.
Cinemagraphs are created with Photoshop, without needing to be an expert in graphic design. Due to their rise, more applications (like Zoetropic) may emerge to create them.
- Modular designs. This follows the trend of simple finishes, like Pinterest. This interface is easier for the user if there is less text and more blocks that adapt to reading and responsiveness on any device, always making it less heavy.
Let's get to work
These are just a glimpse of what's trending. The idea isn't to use them all, but to choose the ones that align with your project's goals and purposes.
With these tips, get to work and captivate us with an excellent website.
Greetings from Patagonia Argentina
